Helpful Information About Working with
Aspire Speech Pathology Services
Billing & Insurance
INSURANCE
Aspire Speech Pathology Services does not accept insurance at this time. Aspire Speech Pathology Services is not in-network with private insurance, but upon request, we can provide you with the appropriate documentation called a "Superbill" that you can send to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. We do not guarantee that you will be reimbursed for these services through your insurance.
RATES
A current rate scale will be included in your "What to Expect” packet, or you can contact us for rate information.
Patients will receive an estimate of the bill for medical items and services in accordance with the "No Surprises Act." A good-faith estimate will be provided to you prior to services starting so you know exactly how much you will be paying out-of-pocket for services through our practice. You will have no unexpected charges/back bills through our practice to give you peace of mind.
PAYMENT
Payment is due at the beginning of each session. Payment can be made in advance on a monthly basis and/or prior to sessions with a prompt pay discount per session. Prompt Pay discount is applied at the time the appointments are scheduled or if payment is made 7 days in advance. Payment can be made by cash, money order, debit, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, FSA, or HSA.
Referrals
Your doctor or another service provider may refer you for speech-language services. You may also self-refer your child for a speech and language evaluation if you are having concerns for their development or skills.
You can ask your provider to fax a referral/prescription for "Speech and Language Evaluate and Treat" directly to Aspire Speech Pathology Services, or you can download our form and take it to your doctor to fax back to us. Your child will not be seen for speech therapy services without a referral or a prescription.

You are still able to pursue services through us even if you have Medicaid. However, these services will have to be paid out-of-pocket by you and will not be covered or reimbursed by Medicaid. Do not let that deter you. Please call us and we can discuss all options for you if you have Medicaid or private insurance.

We ask that you cancel at least 24 hours in advance. However, we understand that emergencies do happen. If an emergency does occur, please notify us as soon as possible. -
Evaluations, trial period therapy sessions, and sessions incorporating SGD/AAC devices will be billed privately through Aspire. The SGD/AAC device will be billed through a 3rd Party Company that will be processed through insurance/Medicaid. The device will belong to you to use across environments once paid for.
-
No, this is included in your payment if you live within our service area. An additional traveling charge will be added for services that are more than an hour of drive-time from our service area. If you wish to pursue services with Aspire Speech Pathology Services and you live outside the service area, we can discuss teletherapy options or other locations inside of the services area if you do not want to pay a traveling fee.
-
As long as you are in a state that the speech therapist is licensed in, services can continue through teletherapy. Please notify us in advance, and we can see if services will be able to be rendered in your state of travel. If not, do not worry, we can schedule make-up appointments for when you return. We can also give you easy strategies, tips, and activities to do while you are away.
-
We prefer to provide services in your child’s natural environment. When services are delivered in a natural environment, you can receive parent/caregiver education and can ask questions in “real-time” that you can incorporate into your daily routines. Some sessions will also include toys/games you already have at home so you know how to work with them between sessions. This increases the likelihood of carryover and generalizing of skills. We can also meet at places you take your child on a regular basis, such as parks, stores, and fast-food restaurants. We are here to meet you where you are.
-
Yes, we offer free 10–15 minute screenings and consultations. You do not have to pursue services through Aspire Speech Pathology Services if an evaluation and/or treatment of a communication need are recommended.
-
We offer these services but not regularly. Please call us, and we can let you know if we are offering any of these services at this time.
-
We work with all ages; however, we specialize in ages 18 months through middle school aged children.
-
All children are different. This is based on several factors including severity of disorder/diagnosis, other comorbidities, amount of carryover between sessions, etc. We will work together to determine how to assist your child with meeting goals and making adequate progress in a timely manner.
-
Most families choose to receive private services over summer when school is out and school services are not being rendered. However, if you choose, your child can get both school and private services at the same time. We will work together to determine the level of services for your child when receiving services in addition to school-based services. We can work with your child’s school speech therapist to determine what goals can be targeted separately or simultaneously to assist your child with meeting communication milestones. For children elementary age and above, services will be conducted after school hours when school is in session at a time that works best for your family. Aspire Speech Pathology Services will never ask you to check your child out of school early to receive services.
-
We are considered a medical model while schools are considered an educational model. Your child may not meet eligibility for several reasons through NC Exceptional Children’s Guidelines and may still qualify through us. We will always sit with you and explain why we feel your child needs/does not need services in a way you can understand. If you have questions or concerns about why your child may not have qualified through the school system or would like us to review IEP meeting documents, we offer consultative services for this as well.
-
Yes, and we love to! We specialize in collaboration. You will need to sign a release of information so we can communicate with others outside of Aspire Speech Pathology Services.
-
Sessions are typically 1-3 days a week or every other week depending on the diagnosis and severity of your child’s communication needs. The length of time depends on your child’s focus and needs. We provide services for 20-45 minutes. This time includes direct services and consultation during and after direct services. For some families, several sessions a week may not be the easiest financially. We will work together to determine the best options for your child and your family’s financial needs.
-
Absolutely! This is what we prefer, and we even have you participate. However, all parents and children are different. We will work together to determine the best option based on the level of comfortability for you and your child. We may have you start watching the session by video then work you into the sessions gradually.
-
If services are being delivered in-home, a family member over the age of 16 must remain at home while we are working with your child. If we are at another location, such as our office, library, or a park, we recommend that you do not go more than 8 minutes' drive-time away from where services are being provided in case of an emergency. Schedule to be back 2-5 minutes before the end of the session as after-service consultation is required.
-
At this time, we do not offer feeding/swallowing therapy. However, we will assist you with finding a provider that can meet your needs. If you still want to pursue services through us, you can see us for your speech-language concerns and have another provider that provides feeding/swallowing therapy.
